Prayer
I had a nice conversation with our priest last weekend. Father ‘Irish’ (a pseudonym), has extensive experience with exorcisms and demonic possession. Our group is more ‘Grandma’s Ghost’ meets The History Channel than Demons & Devils. Father Irish is called in when we feel we are in over our heads. He is also called for spiritual guidance and because he is a friend and delights in our stories. Or we just get lucky and schedules coordinate.
We had just returned from an overnight investigation of The Haunted Washoe Club. Like any good Irish-Catholic Priest he asked “How is your relationship with God?” I smiled and honestly replied, “we’ve never been closer”. I can’t remember the last time I stood in a circle with my friends and family at an event and held hands in prayer. I edit video’s for time constraints and wanting to get to the good stuff, pull the prayer out first.
We may not mention it in blog posts or videos, but every session whether Portal, Ouija (controversial,I know), GhostArk or just quiet meditation begins and ends with prayer. We ask for God’s protection and guidance in communication. The type of prayer depends on where we are, who we are with, and what we are experiencing. We have a few prayers that we say routinely and I’ll share them with you here as I come across them. They are tucked into my equipment, my bible and in my phone. Little paper prayers for every occasion.
I believe spirit communication is a gift that every person has. You take an interest in it. Then practice it and become better at it. Like cooking or painting. I believe it is a gift from God. A peek into the next life. Most of our experiences are positive, up-lifting and healing. Suspend your disbelief. Quiet the voice in your head that says “You’re just tired”, “You’re grieving” or “You have an overactive imagination”. Ask for God’s Protection. Ask for his guidance. Then, clear your mind and listen.
I’ll add my little paper prayers as I come across them. We can start with my favorite.
Prayer to Archangel Michael – Call on Michael in emergencies. Michael is powerful. He is a warrior angel. The angel of fire. You cannot mistake his presence. He is said to be the only angel mentioned in The Bible, The Torah and The Qur’an.
